Justin Heacock currently works at Florida Southern College as their Director for their Center for Free Enterprise & Entrepreneurship. Mr. Heacock’s background as an academic intrapreneur started when he founded the Entrepreneurship Program at Florida Polytechnic University in 2016. With a focus on interdisciplinary innovation, his program was recognized internationally as a finalist for the Exceptional Activities in Entrepreneurship across Disciplines award through the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers in fall 2019. Other prestigious schools recognized as finalists and winners were Harvard, Texas A&M, Penn St., and Florida State University.
Mr. Heacock has a M.S. in Entrepreneurship in Applied Technology from USF and a B.S. in Entrepreneurship from FSU. His passion is working with student companies where he has consulted with over 400 student led startups that are now valued at over $100 million dollars. His consulting experience comes from working in and managing business incubators. He worked in USF Polytechnic’s Blue Sky Incubator and managed USF’s Student Innovation Incubator in 2015-2016. He also founded and facilitated the incubation programs at Florida Polytechnic University and Florida Southern College.
Outside of academia Mr. Heacock has a strong entrepreneurial background. He has created three startups over his years. His first, Revel Trax, was a RFID inventory system for hospital’s surgical arena. His second, Her Heart, was a patient centered mobile application for patients needing cardiac rehab services. His third, ShowerBun, a consumer product to solve shower wall hair.
