Gear Up Lab: Diversity and Culture Mishaps

Cecka Green is the representative of the CSC Leon County, responsible for providing strategic leadership to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies to improve the lives and outcomes of children, youth and families in Leon County, Florida.  

She has been quoted in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and The Miami Herald, as well as the Tallahassee Democrat and by The Associated Press; additionally, she has been featured on multiple broadcast, internet and print platforms.

A native of Tallahassee, Cecka graduated from Florida A&M University, majoring in English. She is a Life Member of the FAMU NAA; member of Jack & Jill of America, Inc.; and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; former chair, City of Tallahassee Community Improvement Advisory Council; and was a member of the Tallahassee/Leon County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. Cecka has received numerous awards, including being selected as one of “25 Women You Need to Know in 2020, a “Women of Distinction” award from The Girl Scout Council of the Gateway in 2019, and “Woman of the Year” and the “Editor’s Choice” awards from ACHI Magazine, Atlanta, GA, 2019.

Married to FAMU Alum Marvin Green, Jr., they have three children: daughters Marhee and Chaela, both college students; and Marvin III, a junior in high school.
